James Melvin Scott, age 60, of Defiance, passed away on Jan. 14, 2015 at St. Joseph Health Center – West.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
James was born Jan. 16, 1954, the son of Joseph Morris Scott and mother Minnie Lou Scott.
He was the beloved husband of Ruth Scott (nee Niedringhaus), whom he married in St. Louis on July 14, 1979. He is survived by his two sons, James (Julia Holbrook) Scott of O’Fallon and Joshua Scott of Defiance; daughter Jean (Mark) Thomas of Hannibal, brother Joe Scott of Lamaletta, Calif.; sister Judy Ray of Bowling Green, and one grandchild, Kellen Thomas.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
James loved to hunt, fish, and camp at the Wayback property. He loved family vacation and was a history buff. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
