Last November, a unique and enchanting event took place that brought the community together for a night of nostalgia and support. Derek and Amy Kuda organized an adult prom fundraiser to benefit the NEMO Hotshots 10U softball team.
The idea for the adult prom was born out of a desire to create a memorable evening while raising funds for the team. Amy and Derek, both passionate about youth sports and community engagement, saw this as the perfect opportunity to combine fun and philanthropy. The event was held at the Junction, which was transformed into a dazzling prom venue, complete with twinkling lights, elegant decorations, and a dance floor that beckoned attendees to relive their high school prom memories.
As guests arrived, they were greeted with a red-carpet entrance, setting the tone for a glamorous evening. Couples and friends, dressed in their prom attire, posed for photos, and reminisced about their own prom experiences. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and dancing as everyone came together for a common cause and to have a good time.
The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the prom king and queen, a moment that added a touch of tradition and excitement to the event. Business sponsors nominated local couples to be in crowned king and queen, but the nominees had other plans. In a turn of events, Amy and Derek, who had worked so hard to organize the prom, were crowned king and queen of the first annual NEMO Hotshots prom.
Throughout the night, attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner, danced to a mix of classic and contemporary tunes, and had their photos taken by Amy’s sister, Lori Benson, owner of Charming Hearts Wedding Photography. The prom was a huge success, with all proceeds going to the NEMO Hotshots to help cover expenses for equipment, travel, and tournament fees.
The adult prom fundraiser was more than just a night of fun; it was a testament to the power of community and the impact of coming together for a worthy cause. Amy and Derek’s dedication and hard work paid off, as the event not only raised significant funds for the softball team but also created lasting memories for everyone involved.
As the evening ended, guests left with full hearts and a renewed sense of community spirit. The success of the adult prom fundraiser was a reminder that when people unite with a shared purpose, they can achieve great things. Amy and Derek’s vision and commitment to the NEMO Hotshots had truly made a difference, and the community was proud to have been a part of such a special night.
