The Van-Far golf team put together a pair of solid performances in events held at Mexico and Warrenton last week.
On Tuesday, the Indians participated in a quad meet in Mexico with Community R-VI, Monroe City, and Silex.
Van-Far finished third with a team score of 236, just 19 strokes behind Monroe City, who won the meet.
Brandon Otis led the Indians with a 53. Jayda Borgmeyer tied a personal best with a 55, Trenton DeTienne shot a 63, and Nick Crow added a 65.
“This was probably the toughest course we’ve played yet and it showed in our scores,” said Van-Far head coach Joe Basinger. “…The kids are playing pretty well.”
Two days later, Van-Far competed in a 10-team division at the Warrenton Invitational.
Otis shot a personal best 92 during his first 18-hole experience of the season to take 13th place for a medal.
“I was really pleased with Brandon’s performance,” Basinger said. “He really got it to where he was playing well.”
DeTienne shot a 102 and
added a 114. Crow was unable to attend the event so Van-Far didn’t have a team score.
The Invitational featured teams like St. Charles, Pacific, Union, and more.
