Van-Far’s new head golf Dr. Forrest Bollow is hoping his four golfers can improve their scores as the 2015 season progresses in order to make an individual or team run come district time.
The squad is returning senior Brandon Otis, who advanced past districts last season and competed in sectionals.
“I know a goal he has personally is to qualify for state,” Dr. Bollow said.
Junior Trenton DeTienne is also returning and is expecting to achieve some personal goals in 2015.
The team’s other golfers include senior Conner Albrecht and freshman Reaghan Case.
“My expectations are for getting better throughout the year and being competitive at the end of the year,” Dr. Bollow added.
For Dr. Bollow, taking over as the program’s new golf coach gives him an opportunity to return to the links as a coach.
He coached sports for eight years, including time at the head of the golf team, during eight years at Putnam County.
“I’m excited,” Dr. Bollow added.
“I’ve been out of coaching for quite a while. Previously when I tought, I did coach year round. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to do that again.”
Van-Far’s first golf match is at home on March 30 against Paris at 4 p.m.
The match will be played at the Vandalia Country Club as will all of their home matches.
