The Van-Far Booster Club hosted a Friday night Fan Fair last week in the high school gymnasium. The event began with a soup and sandwich supper in the cafeteria to raise funds for the school. After introductions of the basketball players and cheerleaders, teams were divided up for scrimmage games. Sam Utterback, school high school counselor, said that the Booster Club has raised a lot of funds for athletes at van over the years.

“In the past 10 years the Booster Club has provided over $100,000 for athletic activities,” said Utterback. “The funds have been used for many different purposes such as equipment, meals, and scholarships. If a senior would like to apply for the Booster Club Scholarship they would need to make sure that they are a member by Dec. 1 this year to qualify for the Booster Club lottery.” she added.

During the introductions, players were asked to tell the audience what their favorite Thanksgiving Day food was, or what their favorite class was in school. While pumpkin pie and turkey seemed to be a tie for favorite foods, weights class and lunch were most popular for favorite class.

The event was well attended and the kitchen ran out of sandwiches within the first hour. The teams played with a lot of energy and seemed to be ready for Monday night’s home game against Cairo.
