Van-Far FFA Swine Show held at fairgrounds

The Vandalia Area Fairgrounds hosted a Swine Show conducted by the Van-Far FFA last week. Numerous contestants made their way to the arena as the judge and the announcer took their positions at the table. John Wallace, who was the announcer, welcomed everyone to the event.
“We have a short show today and we welcome everyone who came out,” said Wallace. “We want to thank the FFA members and all the Ag crew who came along with the officers and the Ag teachers that are helping to facilitate this event,” he added.
During the show, Van-Far FFA members of the State Champion Nursery and Landscape Team were selling cinnamon roasted almond and pecan nuts and a food stand was provided by Brice Happy Hustlers 4-H Club. Kelsey Marek, of Salisbury, Missouri, judged the swine during the event.
Winners of the Market Swine Show Class One were Connor Eckman in first and second place, Carlee Long in third, Khloe Wallace in fourth and fifth. Class two winners were Colbe Kendrick in first place, Emma Evans in second, Clara Wallace in third, Austin McCurdy in fourth, Abby Haas in third, and Colbe Kendrick in sixth. Class three winners were Carlee Long in first place, Makayla McCurdy in second, Colbe Kendrick in third, Abbie Waddell in fourth, Abby Haas in third, and Dillian Miller in sixth. The Champion went to Abbie Waddell and reserve champion was Colbe Kendrick.
Winners of the Breeding category were Carlee Long in first and second place, Makayla McCurdy in third, Carlee Long in fourth, and Austin McCurdy in fifth. In class two the winners were Carlee Long in first place and Colbe Kendrick in second.
