The 2022 Van-Far Homecoming Day of events started off last Friday afternoon with a pep rally at 1:50 p.m., followed by Special Olympics at the Van-Far High School. At 4:30 p.m. the Homecoming parade made its way down Main Street as onlookers waved at the passing participants. After the parade, the Van-far Indians headed back to the high school to prepare for the homecoming game against the Louisiana Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs won the coin toss and received the kick-off. Bulldogs No. 9, Brady Sheppard, made the first touchdown of the game and the Bulldogs gained a 2-point conversion. Within only a few minutes left, the Indians were on the score board with a touchdown made by No. 2, Cody Smith. The Bulldogs continued to lead the game and the score at half-time was 28 to 6.
During the third and fourth quarters of the game, the Bulldogs made several more touchdowns and prevented the Indians from adding any points.
“We couldn’t make forward progress after two attempts with Brandon Eoff and an incomplete pass by Nikos Connaway,” said Coach Lucas Gibson. “Louisiana got two quick first downs. Nikos Connaway then picked off the LA QB and returned the ball to the 42-yard line. We took over at the LA 42-yard line and started with a complete pass to Pacey Reading for a 6 yard gain.” he added.
The Bulldogs won the Homecoming game with a final score of 36-6.
