Roy Fischer

Roy H. Fischer, 95, of Vandalia, Mo., died at 1:50 p.m., Wednesday, Jan, 11, 2023, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Hoehn and Brother Kenny Haddock officiated. Burial was in the Vandalia Cemetery. Visitation celebrating Roy H. Fischer was held at 5 until 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at the Waters Funeral Home. Roy was born on June 28, 1927, in Kimmswick, Mo., the son of Henry and Leona “Kohler” Fischer. He was united in marriage to Lola Deppe on Oct. 1, 1949, in Cutler Ill. She died earlier in April of 2022. Survivors include three sons, Barry (Marlene) Fischer of Vandalia, Dale (Carol) Fischer of Vandalia and Dwight ((Mary Beth) Fischer of Ashburn, Va. Seven granddhildren, Angela Fischer of Vandalia, Stephanie (Dane) Power of Perry, Curtis (Michelle) Fischer of Jefferson City, Kyle Fischer of Vandalia, Caitlin Fischer of Chicago, Ryan Fischer of Ashburn, Va., and Joseph Fischer of Ashburn Va.; great grandchildren Christopher, Patrick, Zachary, Morgan and Duke; one brother, Ray (Jane) Fischer of Columbia Ill. His parents, wife, Lola, brothers, Fred and Harry Fischer; sister, Bertha Chaney and son, Douglas Fischer, all died earlier. Roy served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic in his early years. He then farmed the rest of his life which fulfilled a childhood dream. He enjoyed family reunions, Sunday drives and traveling in his later years. Pallbearers were Curtis Fischer, Kyle Fischer, Caitlin Fischer, Ryan Fischer, Joseph Fischer and Dane Power. Honorary Pallbearers were Roger Young and Gayle Stuart. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vandalia Cemetery or the Tri-County Care Center, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
