Rex DeWitt Brown

Services for Rex DeWitt Brown, 93, of Perry, were held at noon, Monday Feb. 27, 2023, at the Cannon Dam Opry in Perry with Pastor Kenny Sharp officiating.

Burial followed in Fern Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the Opry.

Bienhoff Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Brown died at 3:23 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at Luther Manor Nursing Home in Hannibal, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 25, 1929, in Madisonville the son of Wilburt Russell and Gladys Amelia Mahood Brown.

Rex Married Elizabeth Nadine Robinson on July 28, 1951, in Hannibal and she survives.

Other survivors include his nine children; Calvin (Gina) Brown of Perry, Richard (Tina) Brown of Monroe City, Lance (Sherrie) Brown of Monroe City, Bruce (Cindy) Brown of Perry, Marilyn (Rick) Frey of Perry, Rita (John) Gottschalk of Wright City, Vickey (Bill) Nutt of Vandalia, Helen (Randy) Watson of Lee’s Summit, and Karen (Jake) Mast of Moberly, one brother Ivan Dale (Cheryle) Brown of Perry. Rex left a large legacy with 90 grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

His parents, a sister, Norma Jean Parks, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Spradley, all died earlier.

Brown was a lifetime area resident and an anchor of the Perry community. He worked for more than 40 years as a truck driver for MFA where he delivered in the Perry, Laddonia, and Vandalia communities. He enjoyed his Chrysler vehicles, watching Cardinals baseball and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.
