Services for Mildred Bernice “Millie” Dowell, 81, of Vandalia, were at 11 a.m., Tuesday June 28, 2022, at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Vandalia with Rev. Frank Welch officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dowell died at 5:36 a.m. on June 25, 2022, at Tri County Care Center in Vandalia.
She was born on May 24, 1941, in Lincoln County the daughter of Cleve and Martha Welch Luckett.
Millie married James Christopher Dowell on Nov. 28, 1958, in Vandalia and he died earlier on Dec. 3, 2020
Survivors include two sons, Jim Dowell of Wellsville and Rick Dowell of Center; one daughter, Lori Shaw of Middletown; five grandchildren, Colton and Cody Dowell, Samantha Shaw, Dusty (Tasha) Vonvain, and Megan Dowell; and one great granddaughter, Peighton Lionberger.
Her parents, her husband, and one little brother, Archie David Luckett, all died earlier.
Millie worked at the Vandalia garment factory for several years. She enjoyed sewing, working with her flowers, but most of all she enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Austin Welch, Nick Welch, Tom Welch, Theo Welch, Aaron Wech, and Andrew Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were James Luckett and Kevin Welch.
