Martha Rathburn Hopke, 84, of Vandalia, Mo., died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, at 5 a.m., at the Hannibal Regional Hospital.
She was born Feb. 13, 1938, in Emmitsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Albert Beckfield Sr. and Sofie (Griffle) Beckfield.
Survivors include her husband, Lyndell Hopke, son, Scott Rathburn, stepsons, Dale Hopke, David Hopke, Danny Hopke, Dewayne Hopke; daughters, Lori Barnes, Trudy Simms, Cheryl Allen, step-daughters, Diane Carr and Deanna Burnett; one brother, Lewis Beckfield; sisters, Alice Schannuth, Ginger Lyle, Freida Baumann and Geri Lewis. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, William Rathburn, died earlier.
Martha was a loving mom and grandma to all. She enjoyed farm life, as well as the many years she spent working at the high school cafeteria.
A private graveside service was held at the Mount Olivet Cemetery on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at 2 p.m. Pallbearers were her grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers were all her other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of Waters Funeral Home.
