Joseph Wayne Cheney Sr.

Joseph Wayne Cheney Sr., 71, of Vandalia, Mo., died Thursday, July 14, 2022, at his home.
Per Mr. Cheney’s wishes there will be no services held.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Waters Funeral Home of Vandalia.
Wayne was born Jan. 5, 1951, in Mexico, Mo., the son of Floyd and Ethel (Kuda) Cheney.
He was united in marriage to Deborah Sue Myers Feb. 7, 1970, at the Farber Christian Church. She died earlier on Oct. 1, 2021.
Survivors include a daughter, Deanna McMorris (Jim) of Vandalia, Mo.; son, Joseph “Joe” Wayne Cheney Jr. of Vandalia, Mo.; two Sisters, Altha Gillenwater of Farber, Mo., Carolyn Ford (Jimmy) of Vandalia, Mo.; grandson, James Chase McMorris; granddaughter, Hayli Dawn McMorris; great-grandson, Gerald James Walker; three sisters-in-law, Linda Null (Jim) of Farber, Mo., Donna Dickson (Charlie) of Troy, Mo., and Joyce Green of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, two brothers, Floyd “Dickie” Richard Cheney Jr. and Randolph “Randy” Charles Cheney; sister, Ruthie Clausen; two half-sisters, Wanda Winders and Myrna Woolfolk; and two nephews, Rusty Cheney and Johnathan Gillenwater, all died earlier.
Mr. Cheney worked at NARCO Brick Plant in Vandalia for 31 years before it’s closing in 2000.
Away from work, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing and was talented at woodworking. Mr. Cheney biggest love he cherished was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mr. Cheney’s great-grandson’s medical expenses “Gerald James Walker” in care of Deanna McMorris.
