Community R-VI Lady Trojans score narrow victory over Pilot Grove:
The CommunityR-VI Trojans and Lady Trojans hosted Pilot Grove last week. The Lady Trojans won a competitive game with a final score of 44-43.
“This was what homecoming games are meant to be like,” said Head Coach Bob Curtis. “Capacity crowd, no team ahead more than a bucket or two, and some drama. With under a minute to go we were trapped on the baseline down three as luck would have it. I called time just as Alyssa kicked it out to Sarah and she let it fly. The official waved off the game tying three with about 30 seconds to play. We then drew up an out of bounds play and Aaliyah Welch hit a three to tie it and bail me out. We held them defensively and came down and put the ball in our Senior Sarah Angel’s hands with the game on the line. She was fouled and went to the line to shoot two with only three seconds left on the clock. she made the second one to win the game. A 3/4 court heave from Pilot Grove fell short and we had pulled it out.” he added. The varsity boys also won, Final score was 75-44.
