The Indians played Clopton and Monroe City last week. “We lost to Monroe City 16-3 in 7 innings and lost 8-4 against Clopton,” said Coach Pat Connaway. “It was a long night by the time both games were over. We ended the game just before midnight. Defensively we weren’t good again and our focus was poor. It was a long night by the time both games were over. We ended the game just before midnight, but we have to be sharper if we want to win any games. At the Monroe game, Reece Culwell took the loss giving up 9 runs (only 2 earned) in 5 innings. We weren’t very good mentally or defensively. We made too many mistakes and it cost us.
Now we will close out the regular season at home against the Louisiana Bulldogs. Then we will play Sturgeon in the first round of District on Friday morning,” he added.
Last week the Indians competed in the Montgomery City Conference. Alayna Bryan placed fifth in 300-m hurdles and Gage Gibson placed sixth in 300m hurdles. On Saturday, the Indians participated in the Putnam County District track meet. Gage Gibson qualified to move on to Sectionals in the 300m hurdles.
