Owners of the Vandalia Dairy Queen, Frank and Marcella Bauman, held a celebration on Wednesday, April 19, in recognition of their 45th anniversary as owners of the restaurant.
Special promotions for the day included door prizes and deals on cheeseburgers, breakfast items, and buy-one, get-one for 99 cent blizzards of any size. Drawings were also held for various prizes, including the grand prize—a smart TV.
A history book about the restaurant was on display for customers to peruse. It held many photographs dating back to 1978 when the Baumans took over the restaurant.
Jody Bauman, who is the store manager, said that the owners were present for the start of the festivities.
“The owners were here in the morning to participate in the celebration,” said Bauman. “They had other business to attend to in the afternoon. They are residents here in Vandalia and this is quite a thing here today, to be celebrating 45 years of continuous business,” she added.
A jar was situated on the counter for customers to place their name and contact information in for a shot at the smart TV. Bauman said that the lucky winner would be contacted the following morning after the drawing had officially ended. Customers continued to stop in for deals throughout the the day.
