In February, Audrain County Associate Commissioner Leslie Meyer visited Washington, D.C. for the National Association of Counties’ Legislative Conference.
While there, she participated in various panel discussions and symposiums that covered a wide variety of topics from rural development to agriculture and legislative issues such as the upcoming Farm Bill legislation. During a break, Meyer visited Arlington National Cemetery where she was able to locate the grave-site of R-Adm. Samuel Fuqua and his wife, Edna, in Section 59 of the cemetery.
During last Thursday’s regular Laddonia City Council meeting, Meyer and Audrain County Emergency Management Director Carl Donaldson, who both served on the Samuel Fuqua Memorial Highway Renaming celebration’s planning committee, presented the council with two original prints that Meyer captured of the admiral’s grave-site in Arlington. The prints were presented as gifts to the city of Laddonia by the Audrain County Commission.
