With the announcement the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved a third round of vaccination shots for both Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to be given to immunocompromised individuals in the U.S., the Audrain County Health Department is waiting for further guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, the FDA and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services before announcing when those will be available at the ACHD.
“We want to make sure we are following all the guidelines being set out for this third round of vaccines so, we are waiting for state approval from the DHSS,” ACHD Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Craig Brace said. “We want to make sure we are in full compliance with the state and federal orders, and most importantly, provide clear guidance to our county residents who may qualify for a third does.
Additional guidance on who is to receive the third shot will be released by the ACHD once the new guidance is sent by the state. For now, Brace urges residents to continue watching media outlets and the department’s social media pages for updates.
The ACHD encourages Audrain County residents to continue to follow public health guidelines to reduce their risk of exposure to COVID-19. These include masking when you can’t maintain social distancing of 6 feet, hand washing, avoiding large crowds, staying at home when sick and getting tested for COVID-19, if you have symptom or are a known close contact.
