Herbert “H.L.” Schindler, 85, of Frankford, passed away at 12:15 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.
Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 3, at the Apostolic Holiness Church in Hannibal. Pastor Gary Legg officiated. Burial was at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Schindler was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Bush, to Edward and Elvira Jefferies Schindler.
He was married to Marjorie Lee Roberts on Aug. 20, 1950, in Hannibal. She preceded him in death May 21, 2009.
Survivors include one daughter, Becky Orr of Hannibal; three sons, Leonard Schindler of Chicago, Ill., Joe Schindler (Stephanie) of Frankford, and Mark Schindler (Brenda) of Hannibal; five grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, and four sisters.
Mr. Schindler was a United States Marine Veteran. He was a retired farmer and prior to farming had worked at the shoe factory and drove a school bus for the Bowling Green Schools. Mr. Schindler loved his birds, especially the hummingbirds, chickens and wrens.
He was very passionate about farming and liked John Deere tractors. Most of all he loved his family and taught them values of honesty and the importance of family. Mr. Schindler was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Holiness Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Frankford Rural Fire Department in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
