Herbert Charles Bibb, 86, of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at the Cyrene Baptist Church, with Rev. Clay Boley officiating. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with burial in the Antioch Cemetery.
Herbert was born July 1, 1927, near Cyrene, the son of Judson and Lillian Childs Bibb. He married Dorothy Steinhage Feb. 4, 1951.
Survivors include his wife; a son Donald Bibb; two daughters Janet Bibb and Diane Kuntz, and husband Jim, all of Bowling Green; five grandchildren Danny Street and wife Lisa of Whiteside, Kelly Straube and husband Aaron, Kevin Street, and Malarie Kuntz, all of Bowling Green, and Quentin Kuntz and wife Emma of Maryland Heights; five great-grandchildren Maya, Mason, Morgan, Kennedy, and Holden; a sister Rosalie Steinhage of Clarksville; and nephews.
He lived his entire life around Cyrene except the two years he served in the army. He was a member of the Cyrene Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Director. He was a rural mail carrier for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Billy C. Bibb; and a brother-in-law Gene Steinhage. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Street, Aaron Straube, Kevin Street, Quentin Kuntz, Karl Steinhage, and Ed O’Donel. Honorary pallbearers were Lisa Street, Kelly Straube, Malarie Kuntz, and Emma Kuntz. Memorials may be given to Cyrene Baptist Church or Antioch Cemetery or the donor’s choice.
