For the past decade, the Schambach Family has hosted annual fundraiser events at the Pizza Hut in Vandalia to raise awareness for Fragile X Syndrome. Through that time, they have raised more than $13,500 towards research geared at finding a cure.
With this year’s 10th annual event on Monday, July 18 from 5-9 p.m., the Schambachs are hoping area residents can help them break the $15,000 mark as the family won’t be hosting this same event in 2017.
Carol Schambach said her family may try different types of fundraisers in the future
“This will be our last annual fundraiser with Pizza Hut for a while; however, saying that does not mean we will not continue to raise awareness or fundraiser in future years and in other ways,” the Schambachs stated on the event Facebook page.
“…Our journey began over 10 years ago when our son Tyler was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome just prior to his 3rd birthday in March 2006. It has been a roller coaster ride since; however, we would not change the path the Lord has put us on. We have met other families with the same diagnosis on this journey and will forever be friends with them.”
During this year’s fundraiser, raffles will be held and T-shirts are available for purchase at $15 each. All proceeds go to the FRAXA Research Foundation, which uses funds to find a cure.
“Our family has been blessed by each and everyone of you though the years by your attendance, support, and generous donations,” said the family on their Facebook page.
“We look forward to having the best fundraiser ever this year!”
