Helen “Pauline” McCurdy

Helen “Pauline” (Woods) McCurdy, age 73, of Vandalia, passed away at 11:41 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Mo.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Mo. Officiating was the Rev. Bob Balwanz. Interment was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, located south of Vandalia.
Pallbearers were Brad Howe, Ozzy Picton, Louie Bowers, Dustin Bowers, G.J. Davis, Kyhl McCurdy, Cody Buckholz, and Hank Cade, Jr.
Helen Pauline (Woods) McCurdy was born on January 1, 1940 in Martinsburg, Mo., the daughter of Malcolm Porter and Onie Elizabeth (Hinton) Woods.
She married Ralph Wayne McCurdy on November 24, 1960 in Martinsburg; he preceded her in death on April 7, 1982.
She grew up and attended schools in the Martinsburg area. Pauline has lived in the Vandalia area all her married life and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Vandalia. She had worked several years at the Bobby Brooks garment factory in Vandalia and from her home had been an Avon consultant and a Tupperware dealer for many years.
Pauline loved to crochet and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Lloyd W. and wife, Paula McCurdy of Vandalia; four daughters, Louise and husband, Danny Picton of Dover, Ark.; Laverne and husband, Gerald Davis of Laddonia; Chris Gibbs of Vandalia and Lavonne McCurdy and fiancé, Hank Cade of Vandalia; two brothers, Bill Woods of Eldon; Carl Woods of Jefferson City and a half-brother, Gary Woods of Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters, Dorothy Ragsdale of Paris, Mo. and Mary Ann Landis of Mexico, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; one daughter, Cheryl Lynnette McCurdy, who died in infancy, and one great-grandson, Ryan Malachi Gene Maiden.
