Health inspections

The Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) conducted inspections at food establishments in the county and reported the following results:
• Sonic Drive-In received an inspection score of 99 with a critical violation for: Non-food contact areas need cleaning.
• Sunnydale Academy received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Dollar General (Vandalia) received an inspection score of 97 with a critical violation for: Chemicals stored above food items.
• Van-Far Elementary School received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Van-Far High School received an inspection score of 99 with a critical violation for: No hot water at hand sink .
• County Market (Vandalia) received an inspection score of 92 with critical violations for: No cover over wastebasket in women’s rest room, PHF must be maintained at 135 or greater, and Can opener soiled.
• Laddonia Community R-VI School    received an inspection score of 97 with critical violations for: Food and Non-food contact surfaces and scoop handles need to be up or removed from storage.
• New China (Vandalia) received an inspection score of 91 with critical violations for:  Packaged food shall be labeled as specified per the law, non-covered waste basket in women’s rest room, no paper towels at hand sink, dirty can opener, cooking equipment shall be stored 6” above the floor and not exposed to splash or other contamination.
• Subway (Vandalia) received an inspection score of 96 with critical violations for: PHF cold hold shall be 41 or below, Hot Hold shall be 135 or above, and general light cleaning needed.
• Missouri Military Academy received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• The Office Pub and Grill received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Mexico High School received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Mexico Middle School received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Eugene Field Elementary School received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Dos Arcos received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• The Locals Family Restaurant received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Subway/Wal-Mart received an inspection score of 97 with critical violations for: Weak sanitizer in sink and sanitizer bucket for FCS.
• Aldi’s received an inspection score of 98 with a critical violations for: Product on floor in cooler/dirty floor in storeroom area.
• Stacey’s Place received an inspection score of 97 with critical violations for: Weak sanitizer, women’s rest room needs covered wastebasket, and unlabeled container.
• Hawthorne Elementary  received an inspection score of 100 and no critical violations.
• Hope Center  received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Subway West Plaza received an inspection score of 98 with critical violations for: Dirty cooler fan cover-moldy/damaged ceiling tile.
• St. Brendan’s School received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• McMillan Elementary received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Taco Bell received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Dairy Queen, of Vandalia, received an inspection score of 95 with critical violations for: No handwashing signage in women’s rest room, can opener dirty, and personal food in with business food.
• The Country Cupboard received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Brick City Buffet (grand opening) received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Donut Palace and Kolache received an inspection score of 97 with a critical violation for:  Date marking.
• L.M. Gourmet Coffee received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Dollar General-West Plaza received an inspection score of 99 with a critical violation for: Dirty floors.
• Goodfella’s Bar & Grill received an inspection score of 93 and critical violations for: No consumer warning, dirty FCS, and dirty non-food contact surfaces.
• Pizza Hut, Vandalia, received an inspection score of 95 and critical violations for: Dirty FCS, dirty NFCS, and unlabeled food containers.
• Spare Time Bar and Grill received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
• Walgreens received an inspection score of 100 with no critical violations.
Public Health provides informal safe food handling training during food establishment inspections. Many violations are corrected during the inspection process.
