Harold Schipper

Harold Schipper, age 79, of Silex passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at his residence.  Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood, with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating.
Burial was in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.  Visitation for Mr. Schipper was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.
He was born June 2, 1934 in Gilmore, the son of Alois and Freida Hemmer Schipper.  On Jan. 29, 1961 at Flint Hill, he married Faye Brown.  She survives.  Also surviving are, son Mark Schipper of Silex; daughters Kimberly Wommack and husband Mike, Lisa Kerns. all of Troy; grandchildren Jay Wommack, Josh Schipper, Ashley and Megan Kerns; great grandchildren Logan and Damon; brothers Maurice Schipper and wife Betty of Wellsville, Marty Schipper and wife Joan of Indianapolis, Ind.; and sister Alice Roettger of Josephville.   He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Charles Schipper; and niece Teresa Woerther.
Mr. Schipper grew up on a farm in Gilmore and attended school in Josephville.  He owned “Schipper’s Fina” gas station and convenience store in Dardenne until he sold the business, retired and moved to Silex.
Harold enjoyed hunting, watching Cardinal baseball, and spending time with family and friends.
He was a member of Silex Volunteer Fire Department, Lincoln County Coon Hunters Assoc., Washington County Coon Club, and Lincoln County Beagle Club.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Reller, Dennis Thornhill, Howard Owens, David Hammett, Levi Kirchner, Charlie Thornhill, Bill Sullivan, and Miles Connor.
