Grandparents enjoy performances at Van-Far Elementary School

Sixth grade singers perform.

The Van-Far Elementary gymnasium was packed full of grandparents and other supporters of elementary students during the Grandparents’ Day Program held Friday, April 19.
The event began with several group performances by 6th grade band members.
The performances includes “Fanfare” by Tyler Robinson; “School Song” duet by Trent Maiden and Averie Cottrell; “Fre’re Jacques” by Zakk Strange, Zach Boushard, Devin Fleming, Kurtis Stubblefield, and Alex Holtkamp; “Go for Excellence” by Jade Young, Bailey Dyke, Lindsay Arnold, and Shaylinn Summers; “Sawmill Creek” trio by Paige Dameron Avery Rost, and Lauren Shaw; “Emperor’s Hymn” trio by Alec Adam, Jayson Orr, and Ethan Winders; and “Dragon Slayer” by the full band.
The Kindergarten and first grades performed “The Seed Song”.
The 5th and 6th grade recorders performed to “Oats, Peas, Beans, and Barley Grow” and “Feelin’ your Oats.”
The 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade recorder then joined together for “Rhapsody on a Civil War Ballad.”
After the ballad came “Skye Boat Song,” “Blow the Man Down,” and Polly Wolly Doodle.”
The 2nd grade spring collection “The Wind” was followed by “Spoonful of Sugar,” “Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious,” “Chim Chim, Cheree,” and “Let’s Go Fly a Kite.”
First graders then performed a circle dance to “Peat Fire Flame.” Sixth graders san “This Ol’ Man.” The Kindergarten concluded with “Bullfrogs and Butterflies.”
