Grand Prairie Society, Children of the American Revolution reorganizes

Posted on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 5:39 pm

The Susanna Randolph Chapter, DAR, is sponsoring the reorganization of the Grand Prairie Society, C.A.R.
A meeting was held on December 10 and another, more recently, on Thursday, January 14, at the First Presbyterian Church, Brinkman Hall at 4 p.m. with eleven people in attendance.
Mr. Ken Hofer, Van-Far High School American History teacher and former C.A.R. state president, is serving as the reorganizing senior president. Hofer is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Alec Adam was present and is serving as the society president during this reorganizing period.
Other students attending were Taryn Adam, Trent Maiden, Trevor Miller, and Paige Dameron.  DAR members present were Jen Adam, Ruth Miller, Joy Davis, and Teresa Wenzel. Shera Dameron was also present.
Susanna Randolph Chapter Registrar Ruth Miller discussed the requirements for C.A.R. Application papers and the fees.  C.A.R. members are of the ages from birth through 21 years and  are descendants of an American Revolutionary War patriot.
Children of DAR, SAR, and Sons of the Revolution members need only provide their birth certificate to prove their lineage. Others may need to have more proofs.
Children presently applying to the Grand Prairie Society are Alec Adam, Taryn Adam, Trent Maiden, Trevor Miller, Ashley Miller, Kailey Luebrecht, and Erin Wenzel.
Children presently transferring from member at-large to the Grand Prairie Society are Paige Dameron, Jacob Garner, and Jordan Garner. These students will give the Grand Prairie Society the number necessary to reorganize later this year. The more members, the more interesting the society will become.
The National Society Children of the American Revolution will have their next executive board meeting in February at which time the reorganization project will be recognized and the process will begin officially. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 10, at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Brinkman Hall, Vandalia. Any student who has a proven patriot or who thinks a patriot can be proven, is welcome and encouraged to attend. Contact Ken Hofer or Alec Adam at Van-Far High School for more information or with questions.  Ann Carter is the Susanna Randolph Chapter Regent.
