Grace J. Miller, age 82, of Silex, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Father Charles Tichacek. Burial was in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.
Mrs. Miller was born Sept. 23, 1931, in O’Fallon, the daughter of Alphonse and Elizabeth Tochtrop Orf.  On April 29, 1950, she married John B. Miller in O’Fallon. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2007.
Survivors include five sons: Michael J. Miller and wife Debbie of San Antonio, Texas; Pat Miller and wife Valerie of Hawk Point; Greg Miller of Olney; Rick Miller of Chesterfield; Steve Miller and wife Sandy of Silex; three daughters: Joan Broyles and husband Carl, and Gail Miller, all of Troy, and Lori Ross and husband Eddie of Elsberry; 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Sister Mary Judith Orf of O’Fallon and Alice Norton of Silex.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Bobby; two infant sons; five brothers; and three sisters.
Mrs. Miller was raised in O’Fallon and, after marriage to John, moved to Silex where she assisted her husband with the family farm as a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood and Millwood Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Mrs. Miller tirelessly and selflessly volunteered for years in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and school. One of the things she loved most was playing the organ at church. She was very active in Pro Life Movement and was devoted to her family, church, school, and community.
Serving as pallbearers were Glenn Haddock, Kyle Broyles, Aaron Miller, Nathan Day, John Miller, Caleb Miller, and Casey Miller. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Chris Miller, Ryan Broyles, Jason Ross, Keenan Miller, and Corey Miller.
