Goldie Mae Maxwell South, 94 of Mexico died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Audrain Medical Center.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday at Arnold Funeral Home with burial following in the Vandalia City Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Goldie was born on May 26, 1917 in Audrain County to Ed and Adeline (Leeper) Trower.
Goldie married Raymond Maxwell in 1934, he preceded her in death in 1960. She then married Gene South in 1967, and he preceded her in death in 1994.
Goldie is survived by a son, Jerry Maxwell and wife Janie of Mexico; daughter, Bonnie Kay Gibson and husband Lee of Mexico; stepson, David South and wife Karen of Palm Bay, Fla.; four grandchildren, Randy Maxwell, Cindy Maxwell, Lisa Oligschlaeger and Matt South, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.
Along with Raymond and Gene, Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, J.W. Trower Glenn Trower; three sisters, Helen Owens, Wilma Lovelace, and Ruby Ogden.
