Gladys Rhoena Jones, 91, of Middletown, passed away at 5:45 P.M., Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Golden Living Center/Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, December 11 at the Myers Funeral Home in Middletown.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 12 at the Myers Funeral Home in Middletown. John Foster will officiate.
Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown, Mo. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Beach, Austin Cahall, Brian Cahall, Roger Jones, Loren Stroup, and Rick Stroup.
Mrs. Jones was born August 2, 1922, in Wellsville, Mo., a daughter of Ira Earnest and Bessie B. James Thompson.
On December 23, 1939, in Bowling Green, Mo., she married Thomas Sims “T.S.” Jones, Jr. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1982.
Gladys had attended Hopewell and Crossroad Country schools as well as Middletown High School.
She had lived at her current address for 45 years and in the Middletown/Wellsville area her entire life.
Gladys was a member of the Middletown Baptist Church.
Gladys had formerly worked as the Postmaster at the Post Office in Middletown from 1982-1992. Prior to that, she had worked as a substitute clerk for 18 years. Gladys was also a housewife.
She enjoyed genealogy, reading and word finds. Gladys also enjoyed quilting, embroidery and sewing clothes. She was definitely the type of woman that would help anyone that needed anything.
Gladys is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice Marie and Thomas Cahall, of Montgomery City; son, Glen Deon Jones, of Middletown; grandchildren and spouses, Michelle and Rick Stroup, of Montgomery City, Brian and Chasity Cahall, of Montgomery City, Jennifer and Chris Hamilton, of Mexico, Jessica Jones and Aaron Foster, of Ozark and Nikki Smith, of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Brianne and Jason Beach, Brittany Stroup, Braden Stroup, Brooke Stroup, Austin Cahall, Grace Cahall, Haley Cahall, Casey Hamilton, Kayla Hamilton, Joplin Wallace, Jaxson Foster, Dane Foster and MacKenzie Foster and Brooke Smith and great-great-grandchildren Aiden Beach, Alyssa Beach, and Ashlyn Beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, T.S. Jones; infant daughter, Wanda Lee Jones; grandson, Jordan Deon Jones and brother, Eber Deon Thompson.
