Gertie Chatman

Mrs. Gertie Chatman, 105 of Louisiana, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the Maple Grove Nursing Home in Louisiana.
She was born September 17, 1908 in New Hartford, Mo. the daughter of George and Maggie Farris Elder.
She married John Chatman and he preceded her in death in 1981. Gertie is survived by four sons, Roger Chatman (Joyce), of Vandalia, Mo.; Samuel Chatman (Georgie), of Vandalia, Mo.; Howard Chatman, of Louisiana, Mo.; and Johnny Chatman, of Burlington, Iowa,; one daughter Mary Chatman, of Louisiana, Mo.; two sister-in-laws Betty Elder, of Quincy, Ill., and Opal Elder of Bowling Green, Mo.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, Della Chatman, Christina Chatman and Rhoda Ann Chatman, three sons; Frank Chatman, Raymond Chatman and Earl Chatman, one sister, Nellie Elder and four brothers; Perry Elder, Cecil Elder, Hurley Elder and Glenn Elder.
She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Eolia, Missouri. She enjoyed being with her family and cooking and sewing. She was also an avid Bingo player.
Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Chatman, Damen Chatman, Timmy Chatman, James Chatman and Billy Chatman. Active pallbearers are; Kent Chatman, Anthony Chatman, Jeffrey Chatman, Donnie Chatman, Darrell Chatman, and Tyrone Chatman.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Mo.. The Rev. Robert Bell, Jr. will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Louisville Cemetery at Louisville, Mo.
Memorials may be given to Collier Funeral Home, 117 Barnard Dr., Louisiana, Mo. 63353
