Van Far Jr./Sr. High School will be celebrating Missouri Reading Day on Tuesday, March 15 and the public is invited to attend.
The school will be kicking off with “New York Times” Bestselling author George Hodgman visiting English classes on February 11. Hodgman, a novelist from Paris, Missouri, has written the best-selling memoir “Bettyville,” which was selected as a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle and is currently an Amazon’s “Best Pick of the Month” book.
Hodgman will be sharing his experiences with students on the hour in the cafeteria from 8-11 a.m.
On March 15, students will be celebrating reading with a variety of activities throughout the day. Two Missouri novelists, Marlene Lee and Alice Ann Reece, will be sharing their writing experiences with the students in separate break-out sessions.
Missouri Reading Day will be spent immersing students into both reading and writing activities designed to fuel their passion for language and words.
Door prizes will be given and T-shirts and books from our featured authors will be available for purchase.
