The Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society will hold their third meeting of the year on Saturday, August 23 at 10 a.m., at the Mexico-Audrain County Library, Mexico. The Library is located at 305 W. Jackson Street.
Nancy Brummer, president of the Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society, will bring the meeting to order at 10 a.m. on the lower level of the Library. The room can be found by using the front door of the library and proceeding downstairs or using the elevator.
Charlie Boydstun, past president of the Audrain County Area Genealogical Society, will give a program on the history of the Audrain County Genealogical Society and a tour of the Genealogy Room. Time will be provided for research. The following is a partial listing of what is available for research: 1836-1879 Marriage Records; 1883-1885 Birth Records; original tax records; 1894-1904 Deaths/Newspaper notices; Miscellaneous county cemeteries; Audrain County Plat Books; family histories; and a card catalog that encompasses over 90,000 cards.
The Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society serves 14 counties in northeast Missouri and the quarterly meetings are scheduled at various locations to make it possible for the outlying members to attend. The Society is dedicated to the collection of genealogy materials, both published and unpublished, for printing in the “Northeast Reporter.” The 32-33 page quarterly is published each April, June, August, and October.
