Gatson family, others shine at State Fair

The Gatson family were like many Audrain County area residents who experienced success at this year’s Missouri State Fair held August 11-21 in Sedalia.
In their 38th year of showing at the State Fair, the Gatson family was recognized as the 2015 Sheep Family.
Gatson Hampshires were named the Premier Exhibitor in the Open Hampshire Sheep Show.
The family also won the Yearling Ram Class, the Intermediate Ewe Lamb Class, and the Pair of Ewe Lamb Class.
Kasey Gatson was recognized with the Champion Montadale Ram and Reserve Champion Ewe in the FFA Show.
Abilene Gatson had the Champion Ram and Ewe in the FFA Hampshire Show and Champion Ram and Reserve Champion Ewe in the FFA Southdown Show. Together, Kasey and Abilene Gatson have won the FFA sweepstakes for Van-Far FFA for three of the last four years.
Abilene Gatson also tallied five second place finishes, nine third place finishes, two fourth place, and two for fifth place.

Exhibitor in the Open Montadale Show and had the Champion Ewe. Baugh & Dunn also finished with one second place, one third place, nine fourth place, and two fifth place finishes.
Kasey Gatson also had two third place, two fourth place, and two fifth place finishes.

Ally Troesser had success in the Swine Show. First place: Crossbred Gilts (Dec. 1-Mar. 31). Second place: Duroc On-Foot Barrows (Jan. 1, 2015 and after). Fourth place: Crossbred On-Foot Barrows (Jan. 1, 2015 and after), Crossbred Barrows On-Foot (Jan. 1-Mar. 31).
