The Friends of the Vandalia Library have been awarded a $50,000 matching grant from the Griffin Family Foundation. This grant, along with the generous donations from the people of Vandalia and the surrounding area, will allow the Mexico-Audrain County Library District to build a larger than originally planned facility.
It is the hope of the Library Board that bids will come in low enough to build Vandalia the 4,000 sq. ft. building that everyone has been working so diligently to obtain.
The Friends of the Vandalia Library are asking for help in reaching their part of the matching grant. Funds are currently at approximately $44,500. Checks should be made out to the Mexico-Audrain County Library District with Vandalia building fund in the memo line.  The Griffin Family Foundation, Inc. provides funding for college scholarships and grants for religious, charitable, scientific, and literary purposes in Audrain and Montgomery Counties. Since its inception in 1998, the Foundation has awarded grants and scholarships totaling over $1 million.
