Fred L. Simms, 72, of Rocky Mount, and formerly of Hannibal, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.
Private graveside services and burial was at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Simms was born Oct. 13, 1940, in Hannibal, to Robert Scott and Dorothy Blakeslee Simms.
He was married to Geneva Waid in 1960 in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert “Bob” Frederick Simms (Sue) of Columbia, Charles “Chuck” Simms (Melinda) of Wentzville, one brother, Robert Edwin Simms (Judy) of Hannibal, two sisters, Patricia Powell (Dan) of Hannibal, and Mary Quigley (Pat) of Kansas City, four grandchildren, Robert Bryan Simms, Andrea Bryan Simms, Samantha Renee Simms, and Elizabeth Michelle Simms, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Simms was a computer programmer for over 30 years for Daffron and Associates in Bowling Green. Prior to that he did mechanic work. He enjoyed computers and woodworking; he especially liked to create wood pens. Mr. Simms was a Christian by faith.
