Jessie Fowler, Vandalia, received the Mizzou Alumni Association Scholarship from the Audrain County Alumni Chapter. The alumni association awards incoming freshmen and current students based on academic record, school involvement and community service. The purpose of this scholarship is to create future alumni volunteers by recognizing current students for their excellent scholarship and leadership potential.
“I always strive to excel in academics, so I’m honored to graduate from high school as valedictorian and be awarded this scholarship,” Fowler said. “I plan to continue the family tradition and pursue my degree at Mizzou,” Fowler said.
Fowler, who graduated from Van-Far High School in May 2012, will attend the University of Missouri this fall and pursue a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness management. She is the daughter of Bruce and Martha Fowler. She was a member of the varsity basketball team, the National Honor Society and FFA at Van-Far. Also, Fowler is a 10 year 4-H member and served on the Missouri State 4-H Council and was a trustee for the Missouri 4-H Foundation.
MU is the largest and oldest university of the state’s major public, land-grant research institutions.
