At this time filing for the August 7, 2012 Primary election opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2008 and ends at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. However there is currently pending legislation in both the House and Senate which would change the filing period to open March 27, 2012 and close April 24, 2012.
The County Clerk’s Office has been notified by the Secretary of State’s office that a final decision on this issue may not be made until Monday afternoon
This is obviously too late to notify potential candidates. Unless a decision is made prior, candidates who plan to file on the first day should plan to do so on February 28.
