Filing begins soon for several statewide and Audrain County election races.
In Audrain County, residents can officially declare their candidacy at 8 a.m. February 23 with filing closing at 5 p.m. March 29.
County offices up for election include county commissioners for both the eastern and western districts, Sheriff, Assessor, Public Administrator, and Surveyor.
Declarations can also be made for Township or Ward Committee man/Township or Ward Committeewoman.
To file for these offices, candidates must declare in the office of Shelley Harvey, Audrain County Clerk, Courthouse, 101 N. Jefferson St., Room 101 in Mexico, Missouri.
Documents needed for filing include:
• Paid receipt from political party for filing fee of $50 for a county office
• Proof of identity – Voter ID card, Missouri Driver’s License, birth certificates, other form or certified of photo ID
• Copy of affidavit filed with Department of Revenue
As for statewide races, candidates can file for U.S. Senator, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Attorney General, Representatives in Congress for each Congressional District, and members of the House of Representatives in each Legislative District.
