The Farmer Farmerettes met at the Laddonia Christian Church Saturday, November 5. President Kay Reading called the meeting to order with Claudine Lybarger leading the pledge to the American flag.
Roll call asked the question “Who is your favorite president and why?” and also “What are you thankful for?” Members answering were Ginger Mangan, Pauline Keithley, Clara Shaver, Pauline Oberman, Claudine Lybarger, Kay Reading, Jeannie Smith, and Keri Reading.
Kay Reading said “grace” before a carry-in meal was enjoyed.
Jeannie Smith read as the devotional, “Thank you God for Everything” by Helen Steiner Rice from the book, “The Power of Thanksgiving.”
Keri Reading gave a short talk on the history of elections.
Song leader Pauline Oberman led the group in singing, “Let There be Peace on Earth.”
Clara Shaver gave the treasurer’s report and Jeannie Smith read the secretary’s report.
There was no game though members did receive gifts and cards from their secret pals. The mystery gift, donated by Shaver, was won by Lybarger.
Plans were finalized for the annual carry-in Thanksgiving supper, which will be held on Sunday evening at 6 p.m., November 13 in the Fellowship Hall of the Curryville Presbyterian Church.
The next meeting, which will also be the club’s Christmas party, will be held at the home of Clara Shaver at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 4. The club collects food for the Laddonia Food Pantry for Christmas.
