Farmer Farmerette Club catches up after break

Posted on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10:40 am

After a two month winter break, the Farmer Farmerette Club held its first meeting of 2013 on Friday, March 8, at the home of Keri Bradford with Kay Reading as hostess.
A delicious meal was served at noon by the hostess.
Members were all glad to see each other and catch-up in what each did during the break. All reported having a wonderful holiday season but would be glad to see the last of the snow and cold weather.
President Reading called the meeting to order and lead the group in the pledge to the American flag. She also read two articles for the devotional, “Easter Prayer and Easter Promise,” which was about Good Friday. The group also recited the Lord’s Prayer in unison.
Roll call was ideas for the year. A lot of interesting ideas were put on the table and were answered by Elsie Lybarger, Claudine Lybarger, Jeannie Smith, Wanda Hanson, and Kay Reading. All agreed it would be hard to top 2012 for the fun and entertainment we enjoyed.
Pauline Oberman, song leader, led the singing of “Billy Boy.” The mystery gift donated by Bradford was won by Hanson. Members received St. Patrick’s Day cards and gifts, as well as Easter cards and gifts from secret pals.
Shaver read the treasurer’s report and Hanson gave the secretary’s report. Hanson also read a poem, “The Drug Run” written by Connie Malloy.
Get well cards were signed and sent the Stanley Hanson and Tom Mangan, who are both recovering from recent surgeries. We wish the both a speedy recovery.
Plans were made and finalized for the club’s Easter carry-in supper, which will be held at 6 p.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24, in the Fellowship Hall of the Curryville Presbyterian Church.
The next meeting will be held  at 6 p.m. Thursday evening, April 4, at the home of Clara Shaver with her as hostess.
