Two entertainment acts, a couple of new events, and several annual fan favorites will be featured at this week’s Farber Fun Fest “Honoring Our Heroes” scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 7-8.
“Class Act,” a husband a wife duo featuring Rick and Judy Francis, will perform between noon and 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 8. The duo will perform a mixture of originals and cover in jazzy blues, country, and rock styles with a full band sound.
At 8 p.m., “Country Soul” will begin playing and finishes at midnight at Railroad Park.
The band, from Louisiana, Mo., was founded in 1969 and has been providing dance music in the midwest for more than 40 years.
The group consists of David Cordes (Vocals), John Sutton (Guitar, Bass Guitar), Tony Cordes (Drums, Vocals), and Benjamin Cordes (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Vocals).
The first day of the event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with an Ice Cream Social inside the pavilion located next to Sportsman Park. Those helping with the event include Ruth Etta Williams, Brandie Gay, and Sheila Devine.
At 7 p.m., the Missouri Farm Pullers will be entertaining the crowd. The event is sponsored by the Farber Lions Club.

“Lucky Party” starts at 7:30 p.m. under the supervision of Lynn Flowers.
A Kids Book Walk, sponsored by Brandie Gay and Scholastic Books, will also be held at 7:30 p.m.
On day two, a full schedule starts at 8 a.m. with the addition of a 5K Color Run and One Mile Walk, sponsored by the Eastern Audrain Library/YMCA Project. The race starts at Sportsman Park.
The event costs $15 to participate and is $25 if you want a T-Shirt.

The Baby Show begins at 10 a.m. under the direction of Debby Nichols under the pavilion. Registration starts at 9 a.m. There is not a dress code for the event.
The Little Mr. and Little Miss Contest starts following the Baby Show.
There is no parade at this year’s event mostly due to a lack of spectators with so many people annually participating in the parade.
At 11 a.m., Cale and Sam Utterback will organize a Sand Volleyball Co-ed Tournament.
On the street in front of Sportsman Park at 11 a.m., the Pedal Tractor Pull, under the direction of Paul and Cindy Evans, will be held. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m.
The Tricycle Races follow and the tricycles will be provided. Michael Evans will follow with the Egg Drop Contest.
At noon, “Class Act” starts their performance.
A Horseshoe Tournament (Kevin Williams) and a Washer Tournament (Derek Kuda) each start at 1 p.m.
Another Kids Book Walk with Brandie Gay will also begin at 1 p.m.
Vernelle Hull is leading an All-School Reunion at the Farber Library at 2 p.m.
Kids Games, as presented by Deanna Terry and Kristina Sharp, start at 3 p.m.
Heather Null is leading a Cake Walk at 4 p.m. followed by the 5 p.m. Fish Fry Supper.
At the Railroad Park around 6 p.m., the Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Cruise-In and Poker Run will be held under the direction of Derek and Amy Kuda.
“Country Soul” performs at 8 p.m. at the Railroad Park.
Meanwhile, the movie “Big Hero 6” will be shown inside the Farber Community Building.
Farber Fun Fest is sponsored by the Farber Lions Club, CBC, and Farber Volunteer Fire Department.
All food stand proceeds benefit community projects. It opens on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and will be open on Saturday.
A 50/50 raffle will be held on Friday at 9 p.m. as well as 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday. Winners must be present.
A bounce house will be provided on Saturday for kids.
