FUN-FEST---LITTLE-MR-MISSThe Farber Fun Fest committee invites area residents this week to the annual Farber Fun Fest, Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2. The fun filled festival will feature activities for all ages.
A couple of changes have been made to the schedule.
“Pike 41” will now start their performance on Friday night August 1 at 6:30 p.m at the grandstand at Railroad Park. “Pike 41” will be playing their hit song “Small Town Livin’” that has become a YouTube sensation.
A Photo and Craft display is now set for the Community Building on Saturday.
There will be prizes awarded for the Photo Contest inside the Community Building. Photos, which must be dropped off no later than 9 a.m., include categories such as Nature, Living Things, People, Other, and Anything Goes. For more information, contact Jennifer Williams at 573-473-7349.
On Friday night starting at 6 p.m., the Fun Fest starts off with the Ice Cream Social featuring a barber shop quartet. At 7 p.m., the Missouri Farm Pullers start their pull at the track.
At 7:30 p.m., the Lucky Party begins with prizes that include 31 Bags, Bathwicks, Going Bonkers, Sunny Shine Design, Bath & Body Works, and Tupperware, among others.
While adults are playing at the Lucky party, they are encouraged to send their kids over to the “Old Time” games. To end the night, there will be more live music at the Railroad Park with “Legacy,” who is sponsored by Ramsey Dickerman-State Farm Insurance. “Legacy” is a local band that plays Southern Rock and is from Mexico.
Saturday is a fun filled day starting off with the Little Mr. and Miss at 9 a.m. This event is located under the pavilion at the ball park. The contest is for boys and girls ages 3-5. Winners receive T-shirts and are required to ride in the parade. The entry fee is $2.
Also at 9 a.m., there will be a Pet Show located at the depot at the Railroad Park.
This year, there will be cash prizes donated by Natty Bear Rescue in Bowling Green. A new event added this year is the Fire Fighter Bucket Brigade; this event is at 10 a.m. located in the outfield of the ball park.
The Baby Show will be held at 10:30 a.m. under the pavilion at the ball park. This year there will be no registration for this event. The babies can wear anything they would like, just make sure they are comfortable. Cost per entry is $1.
The Co-ed Sand Volleyball Tournament will begin at 11 a.m., taking a small break for the parade that will be held at noon this year.
The parade will feature the Honor Guard from WERDCC and the Honor Flight Escorts with some of Farber Veterans. Following the parade will be Catapulting of Maters being held at the tractor pull track. Justin Franke has changed a couple of the rules, so make sure you check out the flyer for more information.
After driving through the parade, the antique tractors will park to help spectators get a closer look.
If interested in throwing horseshoes or washers, those events start at 1 p.m.
Excitement for the kids will be the Pedal Tractor Pull, registration starts at 1 p.m. and immediately after this event will be the Tricycle races. Kevin Wiliams is the contact for the horseshoes and Derek Kuda is the contact for washers.
For the returning classmates of the Farber School, an all-school reunion will be held at 2 p.m. at the Farber Library, hosted by Vernelle Hull.
Kid games for all ages will start at 3 p.m. with a couple of relay races including 3-legged race and potato sack race.
A couple of returning events that were new last year are the Egg Drop and the Super Farmer. The egg drop event will start at 3 p.m. and the Super Farmer will start at 4 p.m.
The Super Farmer event is sponsored by Sydenstricker and local farmers.

The very popular Fish Fry will begin at 5 p.m.
The Car Cruise In will be held at Railroad Park starting at 6 p.m. with live music from “Burnt Toast” at 8 p.m.
If live music isn’t your thing, then cruise up to the ball park for a drive-in movie. This year’s movie will be Disney’s “Frozen.” Popcorn will be served for free at the movie.
The food stand will be open at 5:30 p.m. on Friday night and all day Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
A 50/50 raffle will be held through out the day. Drawings will be held a couple times, and this year we have decided to have the Farber Community Building open for a cooling center with small concessions.
