Farber Fun Fest has lots to offer this year! The theme this year is “SAFETY!”
Starting on Friday night, August 4, there will be the Power Wheels Demo Derby for ages 3-8, Little Mr. and Miss for ages 3-5, a Lucky Party chaired by Lynn Flowers, and an Ice Cream Social chaired by City Clerk Marie Bounds. Also on Friday night, the Missouri Farm Pullers, chaired by Eddie Babb, will be welcomed back and finishing out the night will be “Dot’s Spot” with his DJ, and maybe some karaoke chaired by one of our City Alderman Jamie Day.
Saturday is going to be huge! We have 32 vendors ready to sell something for everyone. Starting at 9 a.m., will be the Baby Show, ages 0-36 months, and unlike most baby shows, babies can wear anything! The cost for this event is $2.
Something new this year will be the Baby Doll Show! Children can bring their baby dolls and show them off with cash prizes for the winners. There will be a couple of different classes so watch for the flyer! Both of these events are also chaired by Lynn Flowers. At 11 a.m., there will be a couple of bounce houses being watched over by Van-Far Project Prom and also a sand volleyball co-ed tournament chaired by Benny Burnett.
For the kids, there will be a the Pedal Tractor Pull. Register at 10:30 a.m. Following that, will be tricycles races, and then to finish out these events, there will be will an egg drop contest.
The egg drop contest is for children from 0-100 years of age. After watching this for a couple of years, Fun Fest goers have seen tons of skilled egg catchers! All of these events are chaired by the Evans family of Paul, Cindy, Michael, and Andrea. At 1 p.m., a horseshoe tournament and a washer tournament will begin and will be chaired by Derek Kuda. Garden Tractor Pullers of Mid-Missouri will also be performing at 1 p.m.
At 2 p.m. there will be an amazing “controlled burn” of a vehicle from Matt Hagan and the Little Dixie Fire Department. Afterwards, will begin “Safe Kids.”
“Safe Kids” will be held inside the ball field. Kids can explore the fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, and race cars all while learning how to be safe with every day things. The Audrain County Sheriff’s Office will be sponsoring “Dunk the Cop” to help fund their “Shop with a Cop” for foster children in the area. There will be a couple of grand prize drawings for the kids.
The Farber firefighters will have a candy toss to close out the event. There will be lots to do with learning about safety and getting lots of free stuff! This event is chaired by Brandie Gay. Heather Null will be hosting this year’s cake walk at 4 p.m. At 5 p.m., the Fish Fry will start with live music starring “Country Fever,” at 6 p.m. The car, truck, and motorcycle cruise-in will also begin at 6 p.m. with a Poker Run soon following. And to finish out this years Farber Fun Fest, will be the live music of “meZmer.” Bring your lawn chair and plan to stay all weekend!
