Farber Baptist Men, WOM meet

Farber Baptist WOM and Baptist Men opened their meetings on Monday, November 18 by singing “Count Your Blessings” led by Karen Holbrook, WOM president. Linda Prior led in prayer for praises to begin their meeting. Jessica Hurd presented an article on Lottie Moon.
Carrie Hurd, program leader, presented “Cactus Christmas” assisted by Prior, Sharon Michaels, and Holbrook. Calendar of prayer chairman, Monnie Smith, gave Matthew 1:19 as the scripture focus and prayer focus was Thailand. Each member read names of missionaries who had birthdays on this day and Smith closed with prayer.
Holbrook thanked all who made the soup and sandwich meal a success and those who prepared and delivered the Thanksgiving bags. Next meeting will be December 3 at Karen Holbrook’s home for the Baptist women’s Christmas party. Michaels lead in prayer for the “Bring-a-Snack” refreshments.
President Jim Day opened the business for Baptist Men with Matthew 4:1-6 and prayer. In new business, the men’s Christmas party was set for 7 p.m., December 5 at Sterling Holbrook’s home. A donation was made to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.
Holbrook led the program entitled “Doubting Jesus Power; Feeling Insecure.” Holbrook gave the introductions to each segment and asked relevant questions after each part. The following parts were presented: “Doubting Jesus Initiates Discussion” and “Doubting Jesus Initiates Discovery”, Alan Hurd: “Doubting Jesus Initiates Debate” and “Jesus Gives Us a Guarantee,” Tom Prior; “Jesus Guides Us” and “Jesus Gives Us a Choice,” Tom Wright; and “Jesus Gives Us Life,” Day.
The Calendar of Prayer for faithfulness of church members and for the “Bring-a Snack” refreshments closed the meeting.
