February 4, 2017 @ 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This Saturday, members of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region VII Office in Kansas City, Westlake’s Ace Hardware in Mexico and the Audrain County Emergency Management Agency will come together at the Westlake’s Ace Hardware store in the West Plaza Shopping Center in Mexico to help area residents with their resiliency planning.
FEMA representatives and Westlake’s Ace Hardware employees will be on hand at the Mexico store from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to answer questions from area residents on topics related to disaster preparedness and how to minimize possible damage to their homes.
“The event will give the opportunity for area residents to ask questions from FEMA experts in the field of mitigation about how they can better prepare their homes and loved ones in the event of a man-made or natural disaster,” Audrain County Emergency Management Director Steve Shaw said. “It’s a chance for those residents interested to learn more about how to protect themselves, their families and their property.”
FEMA and Westlake Ace Hardware representatives will have a table in the store with information about how better to prepare themselves and their property to survive in the event the area is hit with a disaster. Residents can find out from FEMA representatives what they need to do to enhance their safety and Westlake Ace Hardware employees will be on hand to recommend products the store has that will help towards that end goal.
“The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Audrain EMA are teaming up to provide residents with free information, tips, and literature on preparedness for severe weather and making homes stronger and safer,” said Michael Cappannari, FEMA Region VII External Affairs Director.
The event is at no cost to the public and will take place at the Westlake’s Ace Hardware West Plaza location in Mexico.
“We look forward to hosting this event as we are a part of the Audrain County community and want to help our citizens be as safe as they can be,” Westlake’s Assistant Manager Greg Widaman said. “We are proud to be a part of this community and are proud to help out by offering these type of opportunities for residents to learn more about keeping themselves, and their families, safe during times of disaster.”
