The Van-Far Indians baseball team struggled through the first two innings in a game last week at Sturgeon and left with a tough 11-1 loss.
The Indians made four errors in the first two innings while the offense struck out seven times in the defeat.
Van-Far’s only run came in the first inning off Kyle Decker’s RBI double that scored Lucas Robinson.
Brett Hubert had two hits for the now 0-11 Indians.
Logan Boyd picked up the loss on the mound after tossing 5 2/3 innings and allowing eight hits and six earned runs with four strikeouts.
“We hit the ball pretty well, only seven strikeouts but Sturgeon made the plays you have to make to be successful,” said Van-Far head baseball coach Wes Rowden. “We did show however the kind of ball team we could be, even if it is late in the season. Hopefully we can keep that positive perspective and build on it.”
