Errors continue to haunt Lady Trojans softball team

The Community R-VI Lady Trojans traveled to Monroe City  on September 23 to play the Lady Panthers. Monroe City won by a  score of 15-5.
The Lady Trojans led the game the first two innings but couldn’t hold onto the one-run lead.
Defensively, the Lady Trojans committed six errors in the game.
Offensively, Samm Jett went 2-for-3 and scored twice, Daniel Brooks went 2-for-3 and scored once, Maddy Wieberg was hit by a pitch and scored, Amber Harrison went 2-for-3, and Katie Carline went 2-for-3 and her flex runner scored once. Jett walked four and hit one batter.
“Overall our hitting has started improving and we were able to lay down a bunt in some key moments. We are still working on defense but saw improvement since the Silex game and hope to continue to see improvement throughout the rest of the season,” said head coach Sarah Simmons.

September 26
On Thursday, September 26, the Lady Trojans hosted the Bowling Green Lady Bobcats. In the third inning, Bowling Green won decisively. 16-0.
Maddie Wieberg was the only batter to reach base with a hit.
The Lady Trojans committed five errors in the game. Dani Jackson struck out one, walked seven, and hit two batters.
September 27
The Community R-VI Lady Trojans hosted the Elsberry Lady Indians on September 27.
This was a rescheduled game that was rained out on September 17. Elsberry won the game by a score of 18-3.
Samm Jett had two singles and scored once, Maddie Wieberg had a single and scored, and  Amber Harrison had single and scored.
The Lady Trojans committed four errors in the game.
Jett walked four, hit two batters, and struck out one batter.

The Community R-VI Lady Trojans competed in the Montgomery County Tournament against the Clopton Lady Hawks. Clopton won the game by a score of 15-4. Samm Jett went 2-for-3 in the game and scored, Maddie Wieberg went 1-for-3 and scored, Amber Harrison had a double, Katie Carline had a single, and flex runner Rebecca Hagen scored. Mia Knipfel got on base with a single, and Sam Jackson walked and scored.
The Lady Trojans committed eight errors in the game. Both Jett and Dani Jackson shared pitching duties.
In the next game, the Lady Trojans faced the Wellsville-Middletown Lady Tigers.
The Lady Trojans were losing 14-1 in the top of the fifth inning.
Community R-VI forfeited due to inclement weather.
While an official schedule was  not published as of press time, district games will begin on October 9.
