This past Saturday, my son Isaiah and I took a Hunter Education course hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation inside Farber’s Community Building.
Many of our readers have taken the course before, but believe it or not, this was my first time going through it. Isaiah needed to take it due to him shooting trap at his school. I figured since I’m sitting there four hours, that I should go through the training and get my hunter education certificate with him. Conservation Agent Norman Steelman and some volunteers taught students the importance of firearms safety. There were also videos to illustrate even further how to be safe when hunting and how to properly handle your firearm. This was a four hour course but the time went by pretty quickly as students had interactive training with multiple firearms.
I just want to publicly thank the conservation department and its volunteers for their willingness to dedicate their Safurday afternoon to helping make sure some future hunters enjoy hunting while putting an extra focus on being safe while doing it. I also want to thank the Farber Lions Club for providing snacks and refreshments to those who attended.
They too could be doing something else on their weekend off, so I thank them for their willingness to be there to help with the experience.
