Breneman Ennis True Value Hardware Store officially closed the doors this past Saturday after serving Vandalia for more than 30 years.
Owners Phillip and Sheila Ennis; Fowler and the late Dolora Ennis; and Leroy and Gail Breneman, all of Vandalia, purchased the assets of the previous Coast to Coast store in December of 1986. Coast to Coast had been a tools and hardware store since the 1950s.
It was at that time owned and operated by the MFA Company which sold the store in 1975 to Gary Link and his parents. They operated the store until 1986 when it was sold to Breneman Ennis.
