The Van-Far Alumni and Friends Association is pleased to announce that it will recognize all employees and former employees of the school district at the Alumni All-School Reunion Dinner on Sunday, September 25.
Employees, including administrators, teachers, and all non-certified employees who have served for 10 years or less to 50+ years will be honored at the dinner in appreciation of the service they have given to the students and community of the Van-Far District.
Tickets for the Van-Far Alumni and Friends All-School Reunion Dinner to be held Sunday, September 25 in the high school gym, are still available at Craig’s Truck and Tractor or by calling 594-3308.
The tickets are $20 per guest if purchased prior to the event, or a limited number of tickets at $25 will be available at the door.
Proceeds from ticket sales, after expenses for the day, will go to the Van-Far Alumni Scholarship fund.
The schedule for the day begins at 11:30 a.m. with registration and a social hour. At noon, the popular singing group of Van-Far teachers, former teachers, and employees will provide a musical program. Members of the group are Deanna Divens, Brenda Owens, Ruth Calcaterra, and Ruth Nation. Their accompanist is Trevor Winders, a Van-Far 8th grade student.
Following the musical presentation, the smoked pork chop and chicken lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.
The after dinner speaker for the event is Chad Ennis, a member of the 1995 Van-Far graduating class and now Senior Counselor Attorney for Bracewell Attorneys in Austin, Texas.
The 2016 Alumni Scholarship winners will be recognized and given the opportunity to share their educational plans and goals for the future. These students are Madison Orr, winner of the Cindy McKee Pirch renewable $5,000 scholarship, and Marissa Cox, Renee Nelson, and Hailey Hopke, the winners of the $500 scholarships. Ryan Nelson, the winner of the $500 Alumni scholarship presented to a student already enrolled in College or Trade School, will also be recognized.
All Vandalia, Farber, Van-Far students, and alumni as well as friends and anyone interested in the Van-Far School system are invited and encouraged to attend the day’s festivities.
