Eleanor Jean Hays, age 77, of Bowling Green, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at her home in Bowling Green.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 20, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Marquita Hickerson officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation was from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Monday Oct. 20, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hays was born July 6, 1936 in Louisiana the daughter of James Albert and Lena Lorene Love Sparks. In 1989 she married John T. Hays in Las Vegas, Nev. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Lori Ann Price (Rusty) of Louisiana, and Lisa Kay Tepen of Kansas City; step-daughter, Lou Ann Hays of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Lieren Yoder, Jake Yoder, Masrlee Burgess, Lena Yoder, Amber Richmond, Gavin Burgess, and Mary Claire Price; sister, Rita Auwarter (Ron) of Louisiana; and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Eleanor lived in Pike County all of her life, spending the last 35 years in Bowling Green. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Eleanor worked as a hairstylist and realtor. She enjoyed eating out, dancing on Saturday nights, decorating, doing crafts, shopping and above all she loved her children and grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Rusty Price, Joe Yoder, John Sisson, Steve Sisson, Charles Rule, Jim Woods, Ron Auwarter, Keith Wescott and Bill McIlroy. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Fanning, Bill Richards, Bob Peden, Lieren Yoder, Marlee Burgess, Amber Richmond, Mary Claire Price, Jake Yoder, Lena Yoder and Gavin Burgess.
Memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Hospital or Pike County Hospice.
